Phil George will be in Tasmania next week to install the latest Fleming Self Steering system to Sea Quest for the TASMANIAN sailor Tobias Fahey, who is aiming to break the record for the fastest solo round-the-world trip by an Australian.
After fitment, Phil will participate in active sea trials to shake down the system and boat as a part of it’s extensive preparation. Fahey hopes to break the record set by Tasmanian Ken Gourlay five years ago.
It is an epic journey which should take 6 months.

With the start of Spring 2012, yacht owners are undertaking maintenance and repair works all over the Mornington Peninsula.
We have some exciting work in progress, including the following projects.

We are also completing new handrails and fixing points for side curtains under her new hardtop. Other works include stainless rear access ladders and fitment of a beautiful celery top pine laid ceiling under her hardtop. One Boat, One man, One World, One Quest.
Fleming Marine and Fleming Self Steering are supporting Tobias Fahey with their world renowned and proven Fleming Self Steering systems and installation for his upcoming world circumnavigation. We look forward to working with Tobias and ‘Sea Quest’ his very slick Radford 50.
In October 2012. He is setting out to become the fastest Australian in history to complete a solo non-stop, unassisted circumnavigation of the world on his 50ft yacht ‘Sea Quest’.
The trip will see him sail over 21,600 nautical miles as he crosses some of the world’s most treacherous oceans and most fierce capes. If successful, he will be recognised by the World Sailing Speed Record Council and will have achieved his life dream of becoming one of the very few men in history to achieve such a feat.

We have a new precision marine fabrication division and a new corporate identity.
Fleming Marine will now complement our wind vane manufacturing company Fleming Self Steering.
We have made this move in response to the overwhelming requests we regularly receive for precision marine engineering, as opposed to most local welding shops on the Mornington Peninsula, who dabble in Stainless steel marine work. So, after more than 30 years of marine fabrication and manufacture of the world renowned Fleming Self Steering Systems used by famous young Australian sailors Jessica Watson on Ella’s Pink Lady and earlier Jessie Watson on Lionheart. Both circumnavigators sailed S&S 34′s fitted with Fleming Self Steering Systems. We look forward to meeting with you and discussing your marine fabrication requirements.
